Hi all our amazing pioneers. Some of our number were on a well-earned half-term rest and others were working :-( so we were a small team and very grateful for your prayers. Brenda had bought us a word about hitting the mark which we took as encouragement that we were there for a purpose, not "just in case". That was such an encouragement, especially as there weren't that many people wanting prayer.It was a day of strong contrast between light and dark - perhaps not surprising given the time of year.
I think that for the first time we witnessed a demonic manifestation as a seriously disturbed young woman passed our awning as we were praying for a team member. Praise God that in the light of Jesus' presence all things are revealed. There was no opportunity to intervene directly but a few of us prayed peace over the situation we were witnessing . She did quieten and we continue to pray that she will find deliverance.
(I have to say I was quite shocked to see a very similar scene re-enacted during a feature about a hallowe'en theme park "attraction" on the TV this evening. What a perversion that a real human tragedy can be seen as entertainment !)
The highlight had to be a lovely man who came for prayer related to his work as a carer. It was clear that he and his partner were really seeking answers and and as soon as he came into the awning he burst out with "I need to know God is real. I need to know there is something more!" A couple of the team shared their testimonies. We then prayed that God would make himself real to him and gave him a Why Jesus and invited him to the next run of Alpha. We look forward to hearing their own story in the months to come.
Please pray for Rog and me as we meet with a couple of the stall holders over a meal. It is such a privilege that they want to spend time with us and we pray that this will be a time for them to find out more about the love of Jesus.
Thank you all so much for your dedication come rain or shine this year. Please don't stop praying that the ground we have won will be retained. We hope to pop out for the odd hour or so over the winter months - just chatting to the regulars. We'll let you know when we are going and we'd love to have some of you along with us.
And a big shout out to the maintenance team for fixing the awning - thank you soooo much you guys! (Al or Ruth - please could you make sure they get the message)
